Many eye diseases and vision changes show no early symptoms, and often, people don't realize anything is wrong until vision loss has already begun. Routine eye exams help ensure early diagnosis, timely treatment, and long-term protection for your eyes.

Why Comprehensive Eye Exams Matter

Healthy vision plays a vital role in everyday function, affecting how we read, work, drive, learn, and interact with our environment. Comprehensive eye exams help detect:

Annual eye exams are one of the most effective ways to protect your sight, helping with early diagnosis both before and after symptoms appear.

What to Expect During Your Eye & Vision Exam

1. Eye Exam & Consultation

We'll begin with a quick conversation about your vision, symptoms, medications, lifestyle, and family history. This helps your eye doctor identify risk factors, understand any vision problems, and personalize the exam for your needs.

2. Vision Testing (Visual Acuity)

During your exam, your eye doctor will measure how each eye sees using a wall eye chart and a reading eye chart. These results are recorded as a fraction—20/20 being the standard for normal distance and near vision.
If you have decreased vision, blurry vision, or double vision, we may recommend glasses, contact lenses, or even simple eye exercises to improve comfort and clarity. And if your results suggest that reduced vision may have a medical cause, your doctor may recommend additional screening to protect your long-term eye health.

3. Eye Function Testing

Seeing clearly is one part; how well your eyes work together is another. We evaluate depth perception, color vision, eye muscle coordination, focusing ability, and peripheral vision. These tests uncover functional issues that may affect daily comfort and performance.

4. Eye Health Examination

Our team takes a thorough look at the internal and external structures of your eyes. Using magnification, lights, and sometimes dilation, we screen for eye diseases, glaucoma, retinal concerns, and any conditions that may impact long-term eye health or cause vision loss.
Tonometry (eye pressure testing) is also performed to screen for glaucoma, one of the leading causes of preventable vision loss.
If we identify any concerns, we will discuss next steps and create a treatment plan that fits your needs.

Vision Correction & Contact Lens Care

If you prefer contact lenses for everyday comfort or convenience, our team can help you find a pair that feels great and supports your vision needs. During your visit, your doctor will review your prescription, lifestyle, and eye health to determine the best lens type for you.
